Business Mind study: In 2023, the business environment continues to be subject to complex and competitive challenges

In 2023, the business environment continues to be subject to complex and competitive challenges, and the directions anticipated by the management teams are varied, from increased competition, technological changes, increased costs, legislative changes, to environmental issues.

To successfully manage the ever-changing business environment, the skills of managers and their teams must evolve. The options are varied, and the right mix, tailored to your organization, will provide the answer through future performance. Leaning towards the operation of internal processes, developing professional and management skills, integrating the recommendations of external consultancy, or orientation towards customer satisfaction and retention have a common denominator – the increase in the use of technology, including digital, in current management practices.

A series of recent events suggest that this process is not easy, on the one hand the enthusiasm of those who want progress through the implementation of new practices is met with internal or customer resistance, and on the other hand, the general technological level does not allow for more efficient processes away from the gate of the organization, especially if the company’s products are physical, not just services.

For example, there are organizations that want to implement external project management systems, but the path is not easy at all, although the advantages are obvious. Employees are literally boycotting the use of the platforms and customers are completely ignoring them. If the former can be trained, implementation being a matter of time, in the case of customers insistence will lead to their irritation. Another interesting case is that of a hypermarket chain that wants to implement an automatic self-service system, the main advantage being the elimination of time lost waiting at the cash register.

Unsurprisingly, customer opposition is vocal, going so far as to boycott the network. Or everything is fine and dandy, the order goes smoothly, but unfortunately, the goods are delivered and an undesirable event happens before they reach the customer: the truck overturns or the train derails and catches fire, like the one in Ohio, where there is also pollution major. Unfortunately, the infrastructure factor is far from satisfactory and, with all the digital progress, continues to be a risk factor or obstacle in carrying out the activity. It is not difficult to imagine the frustration of an employee who works efficiently, and constantly improves his performance but spends every day 2 hours in traffic.

The first conclusion is that this progress effort must be made on a general scale, the effort of the organization or the individual, buyer, or employee is not enough. There are societies that actively practice eugenics, and their progress can be seen both horizontally and vertically. Artificial and especially natural intelligence can make our lives better, saving us from the trap of the joy of shooting down a stray weather balloon.
